first paper due

my first paper for one of my classes is due next week so i've been spending the weekend doing research and writing. it's a bit daunting to write a research paper because i haven't had to write a paper in years! but it's also exciting to write the paper because i am able to access so much material online through library databases and such. 'cause let's face it - the last time i had to write a paper - this was in college - i had to physically go to the library and do my work manually - print indexes, card catalogs and microfiche. i'd have to take the article i wanted and photocopy it on the copy machine. now i can just download a pdf or scan of a photo. that's so wild to me.

it's simply amazing to see how much technology has changed how we operate - and weirder still to think that when i was in college, google and yahoo! didn't even exist. i remember when the college first gave out e-mail addresses and we were so enamored with it - an e-mail address! what to do with one? who do i write to? now i have so many e-mail addresses i can't keep track of 'em all.

i'm aiming to finish a draft before i turn in for the night. so - back to the paper. ah, grad school...this is for real.
