It's Rice Time!

Finally - Jim Rice was elected to the National Baseball Hall Of Fame today. This was his 15th try in (and if he didn't get in today, that would be it - his name would be off the ballot after this election).

FINALLY. Rice getting into the HOF is way, way overdue. This man deserves to be in Cooperstown, don't let anyone tell you different. An excellent hitter and all-around good man to have on a team, his stats reflect a pre-steriod era.

A's legend Rickey Henderson was also elected to the HOF today (on his first try no less!) but everyone knew Rickey would get in - to me, the real celebration is all about Jim Rice. From start to finish, Rice was and is a class-act to have ever worn a Red Sox uniform. Congrats, Mr. Rice!!
